Once upon a time, an elderly couple lived in our small Japanese seaside town.

The old man loved cats dearly. He cared for them every day, taking them to get spayed and neutered, making sure they were fed and safe.

Eventually, the old man became bedridden and passed away. His wife was left alone.

Every day, the cats kept coming to her doorstep, looking for food. Stray cats from all over the neighborhood joined them too.

A year after her husband's death, the old woman had to leave this town, leaving behind more than ten cats.

So, we decided to step in. We decided to live together with the cats in this town.

Our Approach to Community Cat Welfare (TNR)

One of our local primary school students, Sayuri, took on "Community Cat Welfare" as a summer research project.

"It’s not that I particularly like cats. It’s just... there's no choice, is there? It's just how our paths crossed."
